Danny Lester is a proud Aboriginal Man with family connections from the Singleton, La Perouse and Orient Point communities. The Lester Family has a rich and valued culture that has been taught through generations, he is one of four children.
Danny is the CEO of Aboriginal Employment Strategy. Boss Magazine voted him on the BOSS list of 2012 for his visionary leadership. Danny will share his experience and knowledge with attendees at the 2014 Empowering Aboriginal Communities conference, to be held on the 1-2 May in Sydney. His talk will address issues of personal representation and identity.
He rose through the ranks as a Manager in the Commonwealth and State Public Service quite quickly, his most recent positions was leading Area East Coast in Centrelink and the NSW Department of Education and Training and now working as Chief Executive Officer at the AES.
Danny was a NSW Ministerial taskforce member as a specialist in employment and training , he contributed to reform Aboriginal Affairs in NSW through the development of the new NSW Aboriginal Affairs Plan which was launched in April 2013.
Danny graduated from the University of Technology Sydney in 2001 with a degree in Adult Education, he also attended the Foundation of Young Australians future leaders forum in 2000.
Danny has a passion to improve social and economic well being for Aboriginal people. His work throughout the past years has seen innovative and real change in Aboriginal communities.
