The Australian Police Service recognises the advantages that the emergence of unmanned technologies and autonomous systems bring. There has been plenty of space and opportunities to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Australia as the government values the future of the industry. However fast we are progressing, some challenges remain – legislation, control, technicality and education are just a few from the list.
Sergeant Peter Blake, who has 23 years of operational policing experience with the Queensland Police Service in Australia, conducted a research on UAVs’ development and implementation, drawing examples from UAV pioneering countries such as Germany, UK, Canada and the USA, to provide a comprehensive report for the Australian Police Service.
To find out more about the use of UAVs in emergency services, attend the UAV Triple Zero Summit on the 23rd and 24th July in Melbourne. This year’s summit will have a theme and focus on ‘Mobilising and Regulating UAVs in Australian Emergency Response’ and will draw on government policy, current legislation and privacy protocol in establishing an informed analysis of the current and future scope surrounding the utilization of unmanned systems in this sector. For more information about the summit agenda and to register, please visit the UAV Triple Zero Summit website.
