An expert panel discussed the state current transport capabilities at the South Australian Transport Infrastructure Summit in 2012. CASE STUDY: The northern Connector – A progress report on plans for a dual-use road and rail corridor linking northern Expressway with Port River Expressway and South Road
The South Australian Government has released detailed plans for a dual purpose transport link designed to reduce freight rail travelling through Adelaide’s northern suburbs and provide a more direct route for freight exports at the Port of Adelaide. Subject to funding, the planned project includes a 15km multi-laned freeway and a 31km rail line in Adelaide’s north-west. Delegates will be privy to project insights including:

On average more than 20,000 passengers pass Adelaide Airport each day. Given its geographic significance, the airport has developed into an integral hub not only for Australia’s east/west and north/south domestic routes but for the movement of freight for South Australia’s regional industrial, mining and agricultural centres. This session will examine:
• Expansion plans to accommodate an increase in flights from 800 in 2013 to 1800 by 2021
