Dr. Eduardo Gallestey obtained a Ph.D. degree in control theory at the Mathematics Department of the University of Bremen, Germany. After his graduation, he joined the engineering department of the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.
In February 2000 he began working at the ABB Research Centre in Baden, Switzerland, where he researched and applied robust model-based control techniques.
Currently, he is the Product Manager for optimisation solutions of Process Automation Division’s Collaborative Production Management software group. In this role, he is responsible for the portfolio and the R&D process of PA’s optimization suite. Further, in his BU Mining role, Eduardo coordinates the collaboration with Ventyx, looking after marketing, commercial and technology issues arising from the work between the 2 units.
In January last year an article he co-wrote for the Mining Journal titled “The high-tech future” dealt with the need for mining companies to look to technology to improve efficiency, in order to stay competitive. In that same breath Dr Gallestey will be honing in on this at the conference, speaking on deploying advanced automation systems to increase the mine energy and efficiency and productivity.
