From click to delivery! A host of experts untwist the logistical supply chain

30 Oct 2014, by Informa Insights

It is only three weeks until the Online Retail Logistics Conference! In the lead up we have heard from many of the speakers taking part including, Gareth Jude, Telstra who told us he sees online retail logistics heading towards a spectrum of services and choices rather than a cost focused, one size fits all approach”.

We have heard from David Shafer, Kogan.com who explained what his presentation will be about: “I will discuss the importance of focusing on the core competitive advantage of your business. Too many retailers lose sight of this as they grow, and it affects their strength as a business, as well as the shopping experience for consumers”.

We have also heard from Michael Vaughan, Super Retail Group, who similarly to Gareth, expressed his thoughts that the key challenge for online retail companies over the next few years “is ensuring that there is sufficient infrastructure to support customers’ growing requirements.”

Now hear from StarTrack, a company of Australia Post

More recently, Ben Franzi, GM Sales, Global eCommerce Platforms at StarTrack, a business of Australia Post, stressed that “the key logistics challenge for online retailers in 2015 will be how they reduce the number of touches in their supply chain to reduce their total unit cost”.

In his presentation at the Online Retail logistics conference Ben will be covering the latest eCommerce trends and their impact on cross border trade, international markets and domestic online retail supply chains. He’ll also be sharing some interesting new delivery data trends StarTrack have been seeing within different geographic regions for some of the popular online retail categories.

Ben told us, “We have been working to make our network inter-operable to offer our customers the best service we can”.

The 2014 Online Retail Logistics Conference will take place on 18 & 19 November and will be covering a range of topics including: Pick and delivery schedules for a large network of international stores, A glance into the future for parcel logistics and Analysing warehouse locations for optimum distribution.
