Healthcare reform is high on the Rudd government’s policy agenda. In a highly anticipated announcement last March, Prime Minister Rudd made a promise to revamp the national hospital and healthcare system. It was during this announcement that Informa held its 12th Annual Health Congress on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of March in Sydney.
In an exciting week for health and such a pivotal time in health policy reform, the March event could not have been better timed. As the Federal Government was announcing its agenda for health policy reform, leading practitioners from across the Australian healthcare industry shared their thoughts on the issues, challenges and solutions necessary to improve our health system.
Over the three days of the Health Congress and amidst the announcement of possibly the most significant health reforms yet, much of the discussion turned towards the Government’s attention on primary health care services and the policy direction for hospital reform.
