Belinda Gabbe

Associate Professor Gabbe is the Head of the Prehospital, Emergency and Trauma Research Unit in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Career Development Fellow and holds Honorary appointments at The George Institute for International Health, and the National Trauma Research Unit.

Her research focuses on evaluating trauma care, trauma systems research, and improving understanding of the burden of injury. She is a Chief Investigator of three leading injury registries, which generate a large, multidisciplinary program of research related to long term outcomes and recovery. Professor Gabbe will be participating in a panel session about patient perceptions of discharge planning and post-discharge care following serious injury at the 4th Annual Reducing Hospital Readmissions & Discharge Planning Conference, to be held on the 25th and 26th July 2013.

Her research has been disseminated widely with more than 120 peer-review manuscripts published or in press. She is a previous recipient of an NHMRC Career Development Award recipient and an NHMRC Public Health Training Fellowship, and was feature in the NHMRC’s “10 of the Best” publication in 2008.
