Ms. Kerryn Boland is the NSW Children’s Guardian and A/NSW Commissioner for Children and Young People.
The Children’s Guardian is an independent statutory authority. Its regulatory functions relate to out‑of‑home care, voluntary out-of-home care and adoption services. It also regulates the employment of children under 15 years of age in the areas of entertainment, exhibition, still photography and door-to-door sales, and of children under 16 years of age with modeling.
The NSW Commission for Children and Young People works to improve the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people in NSW. It speaks up for kids to get their points of view heard by adult decision makers. It engages with the children and young people of NSW and listens to their feedback and input.
Ms. Boland was appointed to NSW Children’s Guardian in 2005 and commencing her role as Acting NSW Commissioner for Children and Young People in 2013.
Ms. Boland will be sharing her knowledge in quality improvement and implementation of out-of-home care programs at the upcoming Out-of-Home Care Summit, taking place on the 23rd and 24th June, at Pullman Sydney, Hyde Park.
A trained lawyer with experience in human rights, industrial relations and regulatory reform, Ms. Boland has extensive experience in senior executive roles including nine years with the former NSW Department of Community Services.
