We are pleased to announce that Professor, Christine Kilpatrick, CEO at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne will be delivering the opening keynote address at the 2nd annual Elective Surgery Redesign Conference. Her talk will cover innovation in the delivery of surgical services and the role of policy in improving access to elective surgery.
Professor Kilpatrick moved into hospital administration after a successful medical career. She was the Executive Director Medical Services, Melbourne Health and Executive Director of the Royal Melbourne Hospital before becoming CEO at the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2008. Her earlier medical work was in neurology, specialising in epilepsy. As well as her clinical practice, she pursued an academic career at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, establishing and leading its epilepsy program.
Professor Kilpatrick is a fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. She was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003 in recognition of her service to the community through medicine.
She has held appointments to a range of positions, including chair of the Victorian Quality Council in Healthcare and of the Methodist Ladies’ College board. She also chaired the Women’s and Children’s Health Board from 2003 to 2004.
