3 Apr 2014, by Informa Insights

Rail safety is everyone’s responsibility. The Australian government and industry continuously work together towards a safer rail environment. A key in improving rail safety is the review and analysis of past rail occurrence, to learn lessons from major rail accidents so that future occurrence can be avoided.

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) encourages us to analyse national derailment data, the impact of derailments in the industry and explore the tools required for a systemic investigation.

This infographic visualises some of the key statistics of Australian rail occurrence from 2002 to 2012.
