Platinum sponsor at Chain of Responsibility and Heavy Vehicle Safety Conference

Just 2 weeks to go until heavy vehicle operators, safety experts, risk managers and the heavy vehicle regulator meet in Sydney for the 10th annual Chain of Responsibility & Heavy Vehicle Safety Conference. As the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) continue with the National Roadworthiness Baseline Survey, heavy vehicle operators are looking to employ solutions to make sure their fleets are running at optimal levels of efficiency and safety. Teletrac Navman, Platinum Sponsor of the conference may offer the complete solution many operators are after. We profiled the business and learnt some more about why they are excited to be involved in the conference – read on to learn more!

Teletrac Navman

As a business, Teletrac Navman leverages its 25 years of experience to help fleets boost
revenue whilst lowering operating costs with tools such as location tracking, fuel monitoring, reporting and more. In early 2016, Teletrac Navman acquired Transtech, Australia’s leading heavy-vehicle compliance and Intelligent Access Program service provider to expand the company’s offering to it’s growing customer base.

Transtech is heavily focused on the transport and logistics industry, and has a suite of integrated mobile compliance solutions that help transport companies manage their obligations to the Chain of Responsibility whilst increasing operational efficiencies. With intelligent in-cab and back-office solutions to manage routes, fatigue, speed, mass and maintenance, together with Teletrac Navman, customers truly have a unique choice of products to suit their requirements.

Route Compliance and your Business

‘Route Compliance and your Business’ is the topic Anthony Laras from Transtech will examine during his presentation at the Chain of Responsibility and Heavy Vehicle Safety conference. We asked why this is important; “For drivers of heavy vehicles, getting from A to B isn’t as easy as a car. With only a subset of roads, restrictions come in the forms of permits, bridge weight limits, narrow roads, round-a-bouts, low height limits; the list goes on. Road networks are currently only available in map format and there are no tools available that will interactively allow a driver to route using the subset of the road network available to their vehicle type. This is a problem faced in Australia & the world.

Joining forces with Transport Certification Australia (TCA) and VicRoads, Transtech has built a world’s first route adherence solution. With multiple applications across the industry including:
• Regulatory compliance that dictates available road networks based on heavy-vehicle attributes such as mass, physical vehicle characteristics, payload type, etc.
• Avoiding protected assets such as sub-standard bridges, or of risk-based factors that are difficult for vehicles to navigate, such as steep hills or sharp turns.
• Defined routes to adhere to for special purpose applications such as dangerous goods delivery or train-replacement bus lines; or
• Custom routes where strict routes are defined, such as couriering, job/task based routes and milk runs.

Most importantly, when a driver detours, they will be re-routed via compliant roads otherwise alerts will be displayed to the driver and the back-office. The solution will also continue to provide planners with the ability to define routes or a network of roads the driver can use.”

Transtech advised that during the presentation conference attendees can expect to “gain a thorough understanding of why route adherence is important and the challenges faced by the industry. No two transport operations are the same; this solution is designed to be used by any driver, regardless of their task and vehicle. The applications are limitless.”

How can a business be sure they are across all aspects of their fleet management to ensure compliance, safety and efficiency?

Transtech has developed its set of solutions as tools to comply. Rather than operate on exception, the iFace, NextGen and all of the applications available allow drivers and back-office staff to proactively manage events that occur. By including Transtech’s solutions in operational practices, an environment is built with processes on managing compliance and efficiency is built. Previously manual practices are then completely automated from driver input through to reporting results. An operational fleet of heavy-vehicles is then completely managed with utmost level of care for assurance to Australia’s often complex regulations and laws.

Three Wishes for the Heavy Vehicle Industry

We were curious to find out what 3 things Teletrac Navman thought could make the heavy vehicle industry safer for all. The answer; A continued harmony between states to align into national law for consistent safety laws; A consistent use of regulatory telematics when considering compliance programs (IAP, EWD); A greater focus on driver welfare.

Looking forward to the Chain of Responsibility and Heavy Vehicle Safety Conference

“Since it’s the first Chain of Responsibility & Heavy Vehicle Safety Conference that Anthony Laras, Transtech and Teletrac Navman are attending, as a team, we look forward to meeting and growing a connection with a new group of faces in the industry.”

We look forward to a lively discussion during this two day event during this critical time of harmonisation for the industry. Join us in Sydney on the 14th and 15th November. You can learn more about the event or complete your registration here.
